Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.
Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most patients, there are a number of ways to whiten teeth. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, veneers, or crowns that may not match. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly whiten teeth.
Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up maybe needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine.
Whitening options we offer:
- Opalescence Go disposable whitening trays are Ultradent’s latest teeth whitening product featuring new improved comfort and flavors. The enhanced pre-filled, disposable trays fit comfortably to any smile, including braces. The trays provide fast and effective whitening with less sensitivity while rebuilding enamel and preventing caries. The prescription strength active gel should be worn for 15-20 minutes for 5-10 days.
- Opalescence Take-Home System is Ultradent’s custom made take home whitening solution. Impressions of the teeth are taken and used to create customized trays that fit perfectly and comfortably. At home, you fill the trays with powerful whitening gel for the amount of time that is indicated by Dr. Tevis. Different strengths of the whitening gel are available. Average treatment length is 2-4 weeks for about 30 minutes to an hour a day, depending on the strength.
- Boost In-Office Whitening is Ultradent’s one hour, in-office power whitening procedure, which features a non-laser process of gel fusion. Opalescence Boostis chemically activated rather than light activated, meaning it activates itself at the time it is placed on your teeth. The Boost system kick starts the whitening quickly and continues to whiten after you leave the office. Follow up with additional whitening treatments at home is the best way to further the whitening process. *For those who want a quicker jump start to a whiter smile.
- KöR Deep Bleaching delivers astonishing whitening results on stubborn stain such as fluorosis, dark teeth, and tetracycline staining that was once thought to be untreatable. It involved a combination of in-office conditioning treatments and custom home whitening trays worn while sleeping for 3-8 weeks depending on how dark the teeth are.
***For optimum whitening results with all methods, refrain from eating or drinking 30 minutes after treatment. Avoid tobacco as well as stain-causing beverages such as coffee, dark colas, and red wine during treatment. Whitening may cause temporary tooth sensitivity, so we may recommend certain products to help with that.
